TEAM TILFORD: @TerrellTilford’s final 3 performances of The Johnson Chronicles (@JChronicles2017) begins tonite…
The JOHNSON CHRONICLES, a poetic, conversational, ‘body memoir’ about the Black Penis by American Book Award winner Peter J. Harris, claims the uncensored spirit of The Vagina Monologues, and arrives this summer at LA’s Matrix Theatre against a persistent, painful backdrop of police killings of Black men, featuring Terrell Tilford in a solo performance as My Man, slinging Truth and Tall Tales about the pleasure & pain of living with Johnson, the all-purpose African American euphemism for his penis.
My Man’s meditation confronts his personal, political and mythological Johnson in bold, funny, sensual, historical vignettes, intellectual dozens, vows, and affirmations about first sex, size, fatherhood, intimacy and intimate violence, vasectomy, and the impact of racism on his humanity and sexuality. My Man laments how lonely he felt at the onset of wet dreams and how ED hovers over every adult sexual encounter, while always shouting a reminder to “watch my balls!”

TEAM TILFORD: This Saturday Night ONLY: Terrell Tilford joins Peter J. Harris at the Pasadena Playhouse…
MUSING: I love overhearing Black men talk. Over the years, I’ve heard men talk about love & lovers, jobs & money, big ideas & dreams, what pisses them off & what fires them up….I think of Saturday’s special night with Terrell & David as a chance for you to overhear us in creative conversation. And for me personally, this is a great chance to wear several of my hats: writer, curator, and Community Organizer with Pasadena Playhouse, where I’m paid to bring into the theater vibrant groups of smart, curious folks whose everyday work brings beauty and safety and service to our world. Saturday, let’s meet at the California State Theatre and swap stories about joy & justice, and raise our voices in song! Consider it a night of VoiceMusic for Whole Living in these fractured times!
The Antaeus Company has mounted a critically-acclaimed production of “The Curse of Oedipus” which you do not want to miss!
The following are Terrell’s final performance dates/times for the next 3 weeks:
Friday, 25 July (8pm), Saturday, 26 July (8pm), Thursday, 31 July (8pm), Friday, 1 August (8pm), Friday, 8 August (8pm), Saturday, 9 August (2pm) and the Closing Performance, Sunday, 10 August (2pm).

Taking on title role in The World Premiere of “The Curse of Oedipus” by Kenneth Cavander and directed by Casey Stangl, this production is the full-trilogy that encompasses the journey of Oedipus, the mythical Greek King of Thebes.
In regular Antaeus tradition, each role is double-cast and Terrell shares this role with his good friend and great actor, Ramon de Ocampo. Antaeus has labelled their casts on their website as Corinth (Terrell’s cast) & Thebans (Ramon’s cast). However, there are just a few dates in-particular that he and Ramon have switched due to conflicts.
But here’s a quick tentative schedule of his performances:
June 15, 18, 20 (all previews), 22 (his Opening), 26 & 28.
July 5 (2pm), 6, 11, 12 (8pm), 18, 19 (2pm), 20, 25, 26 (8pm).
August 8, 9 (2pm), 10 (Official Closing), though subject to extension.
