TERRELL TILFORD is a classically-trained actor, widely recognized for his depth and range in television and on the stage. Beyond his acting career, he is a social justice advocate for visual artists and a noted art collector, having owned and operated two art galleries over the past 20+ years.

A graduate of UC Berkeley and an MFA recipient from Rutgers University, Tilford has portrayed a dynamic array of roles in award-winning productions from New York to Los Angeles. His theater credits include August Wilson’s Two Trains Running, Stickfly, The Curse of Oedipus, Hamlet, Dutchman, 12 Angry Men, Take Me Out at the Geffen Playhouse, Yellowman at The McCarter Theatre, The Memorandum at The Guthrie, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and the original cast production of The Exonerated with Tim Robbins’ The Actors’ Gang.

A leading man with character-actor chops, Terrell is equally recognized for his television work, including series regular roles and a celebrated presence in daytime television. He has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series and has earned accolades from the LA Drama Critics Circle, NAACP Theatre Awards, Garland Awards, LA Stage Alliance, and Ovation Awards for multiple productions.

In parallel to his acting career, Tilford has been a dedicated art dealer and curator for more than two decades. He founded Tilford Art Group in New York City in 1999, later establishing its Los Angeles flagship in 2003. In 2015, he rebranded the gallery as Band of Vices — an art and culture company championing fearless, thought-provoking, and unapologetic artists across disciplines. Band of Vices opened its flagship gallery in LA’s historic West Adams District in 2018, and in 2024 relocated to the thriving Downtown Los Angeles Arts District.

Band of Vices maintains creative partnerships with the Los Angeles Lakers, collaborated with The Getty Museum, and holds a Creative Director position with the Geffen Playhouse.

Tilford’s influence has earned him cover stories in both The New York Times and Los Angeles Times.

Never one to sit still, Terrell is currently completing his first book, DETAINED — a multi-faceted work blending literary, theatrical, and visual storytelling — while preparing for his upcoming TED Talk.

A proud father, Tilford co-parents his 10-year-old daughter and recently adopted a newborn baby boy, Matteo. When not acting, curating, or speaking to educational and corporate groups, you might find him studying chess, diving into science projects, or simply lounging in the kiddie pool with his inquisitive future boss, Marley.
